Lakeshore Elementary closer to having a playground, thanks to Perry Homes!

Since the school opened its doors last fall, Lakeshore Elementary students, parents, staff and community members have been working hard to raise money for a playground at their school. On Tuesday, June 1, 2010, Lakeshore students came closer to seeing that become a reality. Representatives from area builder, Perry Homes, presented a check to Nancy Morrison, principal, Sue Frye, PTO President and students to get them closer to their goal. Kenneth Najvar, Perry Homes Division President, and Cari Scaff, Senior Marketing Coordinator at Perry Homes, were on hand to make the donation.

The generous donation from Perry Homes was in response to a request for support from the Humble ISD Education Foundation. Fund Development Associate Jeanette Ramirez has worked with Lakeshore staff and PTO all year to introduce the concept of an annual fund at the school as a way to draw support from the entire Lakeshore and surrounding communities.

“The Annual Fund is a yearly fundraising initiative that kicks in where the school’s general operating budget leaves off, paying for all the ‘extras’ that make a well-rounded school experience”. The newly adopted Annual Fund concept replaces dated, traditional, door-to-door fundraisers with a one-time donation from parents and the community. “Not only are parents more responsive, but campus staff and parent volunteers are more available to participate in everyday education at school…instead of counting pennies and dimes. Our office takes care of the details and helps support the campus in all fundraising efforts,” said Ramirez.

“It is an honor to participate in the development of Lakeshore Elementary and the growth of its students” said Kenneth Najvar, Perry Homes Division President.
